Where to Eat Wednesday - Beer and BBQ

Located on quaint Main Street in Seal Beach, the famous Beachwood BBQ seemed like something of myth and legend to me for a while. Now it's just our regular spot to eat - and for good reason. But first, let me back track. Once upon a time I had never been to Beachwood BBQ, but I had done my prep work - I studied the menu, memorized their slogan "where the fork meets the pork" and came to terms with their philosophy that good meat needs no sauce, and hoped they would come to terms with the fact that I would most likely drown my meat in one or more of their 4 homemade sauces.

With 22 craft brews on tap that rotate regularly, you never know what kind of beer you are gonna get, but you can be damn sure it's not gonna be Bud Light.  The beer might actually be the highlight of this place, there is always something new to try.  And you can check out their HopCam to see whats on tap before you head over.  But be warned, this kind of beer selection isn't just for anyone.  I had trouble finding a beer light and simple enough for my parents to enjoy, but for those who are more adventerous in their drinking habits, this is the place to be.  The bf can get his wildly hoppy IPA's and I can find something dark and rich for myself to enjoy.  But let's not forget the food!

We both got the pulled pork sandwich and I was quite happy with it, and yes, I did make good use of the bottled sauces.

I can't say I'm a huge fan of BBQ, unless it's tri-tip which I've found (much to my surprise!) is not a part of traditional BBQ restaurants' menus.  But I really enjoyed the pulled pork and the variety of sauces - the sweet being my favorite since it reminded me Rattler's and the tri tip I love so much.  But my favorite thing at Beachwood BBQ, besides the beer of course, is the Smothered Steak Fries.  They are oh so good!  Cheddar, blue cheese, bacon, green onion, and spicy wing sauce whip your taste buds into a frenzy... a frenzy I greatly enjoy.  Also, I like the Fried Green Tomato Salad. Their menu isn't terribly long but there are a variety of good things to try!

Peace, love, Beachwood BBQ, and happiness!
